The knowledge of how fossil fuels produce emissions and how it effects many things on many different issues is vague depending on where you inquire the information. We will focus on a few effective and opposing issues, in which fossil fuel emissions have had an effect on society in the United States. These issues begin with the fetal and child developmental stages, pollutants, and global weather changes. We will explore alternative advantages versus its disadvantages in society today. Due to little or no real study, some findings remain theoretical until farther research is completed. First, we need to understand what fossil fuels are and how they got to the emissions levels they are currently. We must first start by knowing that there are three major forms of fossil fuels: coal, oil, and natural gases. We know we burn coal- it is burned for energy, in addition, it helps power plants that produce other viable resources, oil like petroleum after compounded makes various other resources such as gasoline, and natural gases some of us use on an everyday basis when turning on hot water or gas stoves. With the previous knowledge, we can see that fossil fuels are all around and affect our everyday lives. Beginning as early as the fetus and child development stage, there has been research that at that stage they are the most vulnerable. Scientist have researched that the toxic pollutants burned from fossil fuels have caused symptoms as early as the fetus, birth, and child developmental stages. The symptoms range from infant mortality, lower birth weight, developmental disorder, and cancer. Scientists have found direct damage on children in the United States and called it, “the addiction to fossil fuel”. It seems that the fine particles- due to burning coal in power plants. These fine particles are said to be inhaled from the air we breathe; polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), sulfur and nitrogen oxides,...
