Good morning Ladies and Gentleman!
My name is Dao Nguyen Hung, from Joint Venture Vietsovpetro company (that is joint venture between Vietnam and Russian government) with more than 30 years experiences in Oil and Gas industry. Today, I am going to tell you a presentation about one of very interesting job in oil and gas field, that is reservoir engineering. So that the title of my presentation today is “What does Reservoir engineer do in routine daily work?”. First of all, I would like to start my presentation with the outline, containing 5 parts, which are: Introduction, main reservoir engineering tasks, major issues, solutions and conclusion. Let’s me start with introduction by introducing you some ideas about the job. It is very interesting but also very challenges and required lots of efforts to be success. Turning on the second part is that what does the main tasks reservoir engineer need to do in their job? There are actually many tasks that need to be done by reservoir engineer, however I just want to concentrate on four most important as follow: Collect/analysis well’s data; monitoring well’s performance; production forecast and running simulation models. Let’s me give you more details about the tasks by giving major issues each of them for you to understand what does reservoir engineer job mean?. First task is Collect/analysis well’s data. In a producing reservoir, usually many wells (including production and injection) needed to be drilled in order to produce the reservoir effectively with high oil recovery factor (it mean try to produce maximum amount of oil from reservoir). For understanding what is going on inside the reservoir, we need to collect all available well’s data and analyze them as details as possible. However, in practice we are facing with different issues (difficulties) while doing the job is that low accuracy of data and lots of information need to analyzed and usually it takes a lot of time. Second task is monitoring well’s...
