Schumacher believe that the reason people seek education is to look for ideas that would make the world and their own lives meaningful to them. This education goes beyond a mere training, knowledge of facts and more than amusement. It includes a sense of understanding, feelings and a hands-on activities also. Because without basic understanding everything seems to be in disorder and they will not find joy in them. He also believe that people seek education because it has a major impact on civilization which enable them better understand the world. A man without this feels withdrawer and has no interest in anything surrounding him
The similarities between the points of the passage and my expectation about college is how education enhances civilization and understanding. I know my understanding of the world will improve through college education as the passage said. Education and college both require learning and enhances civilization. But the difference is education is much broader than college in a sense that education begins at life start to death but college is very short term of a life span. The passage enlightened my ideas being in college. Although College is challenging, it puts me in a constant acquisition of knowledge and understanding. Doing this increases my intelligence which makes life more understandable and easy.
Education is a life-long process. A learning in which the knowledge, skills and habits are transferred from one generation to the next through teaching, training or research.
